The General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army (PLAGH) (also Hospital 301) is located at Fuxing Road 28, Beijing, People's Republic of China, occupying an area of over one million square meters and a floor space of over 252,900 square meters. The hospital has more than 3300 patient beds, and more than 150 clinical, medical and technological departments. The hospital possesses a substantial number of state-of-the-art equipments for medical and research purposes which include PET, 8 sets of different MIR (including 3.0T MRI), 9 sets of Helical CT (including 64-Slices CT), 3 sets of ESWL, 6 sets of DSA (including DSA-3100), 15 sets of color Doppler ultrasonic diagnostic system, medical linear accelerator, X-Knife, electronic microscopes, ECT, LSCM, Flow Cytometer and PRK, which are worth more than 1.3 billion RMB yuan. The hospital has achieved a conformance rate of 99.36% in primary diagnoses to confirmed ones, successful rescue rate of 90.48% in patients in critical conditions and efficiency rate of 97.93% in medical treatment. |

The PLA Postgraduate Medical School is a new type of educational institution, which is based on continuing education and focused on graduate education in clinical medicine, is one of the first institutions authorized by the Academic Degree Committee under the State Council, to confer master's and doctor's degrees. It was authorized to be a postdoctoral center for clinical medicine in 1996 and that of stomatology in 2000. It was authorized to be one of the first experimental organizations in China to confer master's and doctor's degrees in clinical medicine in 1998.
The school enrolls students in doctor degree programs in 19 specialties of 10 disciplinary fields and those in master degree programs in 33 specialties of 21 disciplinary fields. Currently there are 89 supervisors for doctoral programs and 160 supervisors for masters programs. Every year, it enrolls more than 200 graduate students, over 1000 continuing students and over 200 interns.

PLAGH offers excellent conditions for scientific research, undertaking more than 200 national and army projects of scientific research. Since 1980, the hospital has been honored with more than 1000 national and army awards for achievements in science and technology. Every year, more than 1600 research papers have been published. It runs and publishes several academic journals that are listed among the national core periodicals, namely, Journal of the PLAPostgraduateMedicalSchool, Chinese Journal of Nosocomial Infections, Chinese Journal of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Chinese Journal of Medical Imaging, and Chinese Journal of Laser Medicine & Surgery.
The hospital has relationships of academic exchange and cooperation with hospitals, schools and medical research institutes in more than 60 countries and regions. Each year, over 400 professionals from the hospital go abroad to study and complete technological cooperation. More than 500 foreign scholars and experts visit the hospital and deliver lectures every year. Over 180 renowned foreign scholars have been invited to be honorary professors and technical advisors in the hospital.
